Job Opportunity:
Regional Lead and Outreach Coordinator Clallam, Jefferson, and Kitsap Counties
Title: Outreach Coordinator

Hours: 5-10 hours per week, mid-May – mid-October, 2024
Rate: Contractor Flat Rate of $6,000 for 5-month contract
Background
Formed in June 2020, the Eat Local First Collaborative is a collective of food system organizations working together to facilitate connections between consumers and farm and food businesses statewide. Members include Sustainable Connections, Tilth Alliance, Washington State University Food Systems, and Washington State University Extension Regional Small Farms Program (serving Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties) and Seattle Good Business Network.

Description: The outreach coordinator will assist with general implementation of activities to support Eat Local First programming on the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas. The position will be based on the Olympic Peninsula and will work as an independent contractor for Sustainable Connections with local oversight of activities from Eat Local First OlyPen partners.
Duties include:
• Participate in meetings as needed to stay informed and engaged with the Eat Local First Collaborative and various sub-committees and working groups.
• Outreach to Clallam, Jefferson & Kitsap to support complete and up-to-date information on the WA F&FF and eatlocalfirst.org Events page.
• Research and recruit locally owned farms, fisheries, restaurants, food artisans, markets, and relevant food systems organizations to create free listings on the WAFFF.
• Build relationships on behalf of Eat Local first through email, phone, and in person communications for the purpose of engaging a variety of stakeholders in the design of the Olympic Peninsula regional ‘identity’ within eatlocalfirst.org.
• Perform outreach to food systems stakeholders within region to build awareness and collaboration with Eat Local First
• Outreach to local businesses, community organizations, radio stations, newspapers, to add event to their event calendars, post on their reader boards, etc. and Seek opportunities for earned media from local newspapers.
• Maintaining data entry, answering phone calls, customer service, filing and copying, logistics scheduling, email communications, written correspondence
• Monitor and grow ELF social media (Instagram and FaceBook) and share content to ELFOlyPen social pages. Create ELFOlyPen specific content especially in support of promotional campaigns
• Coordinate local Eat Local Month campaign activities, fundraising, and marketing.
• Report on activities, outcomes and opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in communications, skilled with graphics creation and social media, experience in planning and coordinating events, able to work independently, familiar and well-networked with food and farm sector regionally. Comfortable utilizing cloud based documents and information systems like Google Drive, Slack, and various software and tools.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid Washington State Driver’s License;
